HIP-HIP Section A - Pivot Chugs (8 beats) Start the Dance facing front, with both feet shoulder width apart. For the first four counts, keep the right foot stationary, keeping it as a pivot point. This is a "slow" pivot. You know, like, in "Achy Breaky" you have one count to do a quarter turn? Well, in this dance you have FOUR counts to do the quarter turn. So, the movements during this section are not extreme. During the first four counts, with your right foot remaining stationary as a pivot point, you will turn 1/4 turn to the right. Count 1. Rock onto left foot &. Rock onto right foot, and pivot slightly 2. Rock onto left foot &. Rock onto right foot, and pivot slightly 3. Rock onto left foot &. Rock onto right foot and pivot slightly 4. Step on left foot OK, for counts 5-8, the LEFT foot will act as the pivot point, and during the four counts, you will turn 1/4 turn to the left. Step on right foot OK, at this point, the feet should be slightly less than shoulder's width apart. By the way, the counts would go with the music this way if we were dancing to "No One Else On Earth" by Wynonna Judd" COUNT 1 & 2 & 3&4 5 & 6 & 7 &8 WORDS NO ONE ELSE ON EARTH COULD EV-ER HURT ME >> SECTION B - Jumping Jacks (8 beats) Count 1. SECTION C - Pivot Chugs (4 beats) 1 2 4 3 You start Section C facing Wall 3. When you finish, you will be facing Wall 4. I believe they learned this dance at the 1992 Portland Dance Festival from Michelle Magdanz and Erin Rogers. Suggested music for this dance includes: - Swingin' by John Anderson (practice) - Hey Bobby! by K.T.Oslin (practice) - Put Some Drive in Your Country by Travis Tritt - Gonna Make You Swaet by C&C Music Factory This dance works the best with "Gonna Make You Sweat" by C&C Music Factory. It's a rap song, that has the words "Every Body Dance Now." I think the dance works will with "No One Else on Earth" by Wynonna Judd. This dance is broken into Sections A through M. After you finish Section M, you start over with Section A. Hip Hop. Let me give you one helpful hint - pay close attention to the beat count, especially in the jumping jacks. This is where you may have the most problem with the timing in this section. Keep the last page of notes that break down each section. It is very helpful to keep handy. Eventually you will just have to look at that page and you will remember the dance. Pay attention to the count in the vaudeville steps also. Most instructors take about two hours to teach this dance - so have lots of patience learning it.
